If your family is feeling the pinch with SNAP funding on hold, you’re not alone — and Chesapeake, VA is full of organizations ready to help. We’ve rounded up local resources where you can find free groceries, community meals, and kid-friendly food programs to make things a little easier.

Local Food Pantries and Food Banks

  • Agape Food Pantry at Great Bridge UMC — 201 Stadium Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Fridays from 3 to 6 pm
  • Agape Ministries — 4227 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23324.  Third Wednesday of each month from 10 am to 12 pm
  • Bethany Baptist Mobile Pantry — 2587 Campostella Road, Chesapeake, VA.  Third Thursday of each month from 9:30 to 11:00 am
  • Buffalow Family and Friends — 2403 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake VA 23324.  Fresh produce and groceries will be available first-come, first-served. This market is open to anyone in need in our community,
  • Centerville AME Church — 1116 Fentress Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322.  Tuesdays from 4 to 6 pm, Sundays from 1 to 2 pm
  • Chesapeake Baptist Church — 1040 Burns St, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  Third Saturday of each month from 10 am to 12 pm
  • Chesapeake Christian Center — 300 Liberty Street Chesapeake, VA 23324.  Third Saturday of each month at 12 pm
  • Church After God's Own Heart — 2317 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23324.  Walk-in distribution Sundays 2-3pm, by appointment only Sunday 3-4pm.
  • Cupboards for Christ at Great Bridge Baptist Church — 640 S Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322.  Drive-thru distribution Thursdays from 9:30am to 12 pm
  • God is Able Ministry — 2033 Battlefield Blvd North, Chesapeake, VA 23324.  Sunday 9AM-10:30AM; Tuesday 6PM- 7PM.
  • Grace Lutheran Church — 521 Providence Road, Chesapeake, VA 23325.  Mondays from 9:00am-12:45pm.
  • Greenbrier Community Church — 825 Greenbrier Pkwy, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  2nd Saturday of the month from 9:00-11:00am.
  • Greenbrier Presbyterian Church — 1100 Greenbrier Pkwy, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  Open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am-12:00pm *Please call first* 757-547-8535
  • Healthy Chesapeake Food Pantry — 437 Providence Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23325.  1st & 3rd Friday, 11:30am - 12:30pm.
  • Heritage Community Church — 513 Johnstown Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.  By appointment and a large distribution the 3rd Thursday of the month 9-11:00am.
  • House of Blessings / HarvestVA — 525 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30am and 5:00 to 6:30pm.
  • Impact VA — 1735 Mount Pleasant Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322.  Thursdays from 10am-12pm.

  • Prince of Peace Catholic Church — 621 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake, VA 23322.  Wednesdays from 10:00am-11:30am.
  • Providence UCC —  2200 Vicker Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23324.  Tuesdays and Thrusdays from 4 to 5:15 pm.
  • RESET, Inc. — 1109 S Military Hwy Unit A, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 8:00 to 11:00am.
  • Rosemont Christian Church — 3505 Bainbridge Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23324.  2nd and 4th Fridays, 9-11am.
  • Solid Rock Apostolic Holiness — 1442 Commerce Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23324. Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 12:00-1:00pm. SNAP access efforts will be on site the third Wednesday of each month.
  • St Luke AME Church — 241 St Luke Church Road, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  Open the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month from 10:00am-12:00pm. SNAP access efforts will be on site the first Friday of each month.
  • Taylor Bend Family YMCA — 4626 Taylor Road Chesapeake , VA 23321. 3rd & 4th Tuesday of each month from 10am-1pm.

These small, take-what-you-need spots are stocked by neighbors and open daily:
